“Haftanlage 4614” is the new movie by Jan Soldat (“Ein Wochenende in Deutschland”, “Der Unfertige”), that was was applauded at its world premier at this year’s Berlinale.
In this film we get to meet Arwed and Dennis, a gay couple that has built a home-made prison, where men are voluntarily being held captive and tortured. Here, torture is a service – the incarcerated men are not victims but paying customers.
“The inhabitants of the prison system are players in a game that not only reproduces the logic of power, domination and oppression, but makes it his own. The nightmare of adhesive is designed using this method as a parody and pleasure principle. The observational documentary approach that gives ironically the power play his credibility complicit takes part to the fiction of the room.
